Watchin' videotapes; RENT "The Shadow"!!!
Gye Greene's feeling better, but remarkably, wasn't much up to reading. (Watching movies requires less concentration than reading...) So, we just dug thru the stack of videotapes and DVDs. Sabrina (w/ Harrison Ford); The Shadow (Alec Baldwin; **highly** under-rated movie!); Field of Dreams (actually, that was yesterday); L.A. Story (one of Steve Martin's better ones). Tried to watch "That Thing You Do," as GG was in the mood for it, but danged if we couldn't find it!!!
Also, last night The Lady was kind enough to go rent a movie: "Ella Enchanted." Pretty good, worth renting once. Hints of "Shrek" (in its spoofing of fairy-tale conventions, although Shrek did it first and better), and "The Princess Bride".
Again: GO RENT "THE SHADOW"!!! Like the Tim Burton "Batman" remake, with excellent "period" re-creation of art deco-ish 1920's, period technology, etc. A number of good lines. And I like the whole "darkness that lurks in the hearts of men" theme.
