Interesting ceiling

I have been reduced to blogging about ceilings! This is a photo of the ceiling in the living room of our house.

Apparently, The Lady's grandfather created this ceiling. If you were able to look closely, you would see that these are not, in fact, solid beams: Instead, they are planks (possibly 1'' x 6''?) nailed together into elongated ''box'' shapes.

Very clever! And, a good look.

These ceilings are very tall -- perhaps ten feet. This has inspired The Lady and GG to pay the extra for higher ceilings in the house they are having built. (Plus, GG says the higher ceilings are better, acoustically -- for recording purposes.)
