Life philosophy, #2

LIFE PHILOSOPHY, #2:

“Just remember, life don’t be no rehearsal. Don’t hurt nobody who don’t hurt you first. Don’t hurt yourself, dress nice and go on all the rides. Nothin’ to fret about.”
(from pg. 229 of The Gutbucket Quest (2000) by Piers Anthony and Ron Leming; found 1/6/05)

Quote: Life philosophy

LIFE PHILOSOPHY:

“So what I figure is, what you got to do is to always expect the best from people. Then they’ll try to give the best, maybe. It’s a hard way to live, I ain’t sayin’ it ain’t. It’s livin' on faith, is what it is, but if we expect a person to act a certain way, then we moves ‘em towards makin’ that the easiest way for ‘em to act. So if we act in faith that the other person gonna give us their best, that’s just what they gots to do, seems like. And by actin’ in that faith, their expectations you will change for the best.”
(from pg. 114-115 of The Gutbucket Quest (2000) by Piers Anthony and Ron Leming; found 1/6/05)

Music quote: performing live

I've not been particularly inspired as of late. However, to maintain at least some momentum in my blog, I shall supplement it with deep and insightful quotes -- of which I have a fair store.

ON PERFORMING:

“You see, son, people ain’t looking for the meaning of life. What they want is an experience of bein’ alive. [...] You gots to sing like you don’t need the money and dance like ain’t nobody watchin’.”
(from pg. 112 of The Gutbucket Quest (2000) by Piers Anthony and Ron Leming; found 1/5/05)

This is an enjoyable book, by the way -- particularly if you are a blues fan, and/or a musician.

"Instant music" website

A very creative fellow! People post song requests to the website, including the subject matter and musical genre, and this person creates a song, to order!

http://songstowearpantsto.com/

I have just started working backwards through his collection, but so far enjoy #0249, "The Giant Squid" -- about some person's newspaper column by the same name.

If you have speakers on your computer, I highly recommend this site. :)

Happy recent anniversary!

A happy anniversary this weekend to Gye Greene and The Lady! They saw the "Fantastic Four" movie; both said it was "fine," but not as good as most of the recent crop of super-hero movies.

Ralphie the Dog and I stayed home and played pinochle.

Amused me

This droll(?) delivery of the first two panels of this cartoon amused me, despite -- or possibly because of -- the serious topic (one of the main characters has accidentally stepped on a land mine, and is afraid to move).

It's a rolling archive, so this particular comic will be gone in about three weeks. However, I doubt I'll come back to update this blog entry.
